The Jay Leonhart Trio in a "tune up" for an upcoming Jazz cruise playing the "hard stuff" like Jitterbug Waltz (that's the set up for "see what I mean" when Jay calls the tune and Joe asks: "What Key?" (I fixed the problematic blocking of Ted's head later in the evening!)

  • does anybody know what guitar/amp/string/action setup Joe Cohn is using here?

  • I asked Joe and he told me: "I use a gibson L5 with daddario round wounds with the 13 for the high E going through a fender deluxe amplifier.

Hope that helps whomever was interested."

  • If swingin', tasty and grooving guitar playing could get you into jail, Joe would never get out! What a solo...

  • @MysticMerlinsax Yes, damn right. Rounds all the way. That will silence those flatwound players for a little bit. Joe Cohn knows exactly what he is doing as a player every time he assumes the stage or plays one a recording. I use the same setup for my Eastman and everyone loves my tone. Bring back the rounds is all can say.

  • No shit!!!

  • do you happen to know if he used a wound G string? Or what daddario set?

  • My last name is Leonhart too!

  • Nice. I love the Erroll Garner style of the piano.

  • These are great NY cats DOIN' IT.
