Also my lesson learned is that the amour of water remaining the the washer pipes leading to the pump even after emptying the drum is a lost five gallons ... So be prepared in advance. If you are cavil you can catch most of it using an aluminum pan and a vacuum running during the out pour...
Thanks for this excellent video. Sears parts consultants had advised to replace the timer unit...I had one ordered and delivered. After Watching this video I decided to check the pump. I found a small steel pin stuck around the impeller. Also found several coins stuck in the trap,,,, I was able to pull the pin out without opening the pump. Also got all the coins out with the wet dry vacuum...I saved the couple of hundred dollars and found the hidden treasure of old coins....
Nice job on the water pump. And you are right, some repair people would charge $400.00 to do that job. But at Jackson Appliance Repair Orlando. com we would do that repair for only $69.00 plus parts! If you are in or around Orlando Fl. you can call today for service today! 407-385-3662
Mr Repair guy came in and told me the pump was broken (it was buzzing) and also the spin was broken. I thought it was odd that two things broke at the same time. He didn't know that if it didn't drain, it wouldn't spin. SO glad I googled the problem!!! Found a very rusty, 4 inch long sewing needle wedged in the pump. Works fine now.
Awesome stuff...thanks so much....a stocking, 87 cents, my daughters barrett and a bunch of dog hair....a phillips screwdriver, some towels and pliers....20 minutes later and I'm doing laundry again...THANKS great easy to follow video....gave you big props on Twitter!
Thank you very much!. Im not a mechanical person and I took it apart and I had a sock in my pump......no joke actually in the pump. It would not drain, obviously. Thankfully the pump still worked and all is good. Really appreciate your video

Thank you very much for posting this. Our Kenmore (bought in 2001) has the exact same problem.
