Wow! I have never heard Gadd play an unmusical solo! To me he is like Picasso on drums!! EVERY great drummer who came after Steve WAS influenced by him!! And they will tell you that themselves!! One in a million drummer!! LEGEND!!

when you achieve the STATE of conceptual execution you will feel it all come together. Gadd is a master of his style I have learned so much from him but the most important is to know b4 you go....LEARN THE RUDIMENTS!!!!!!

I'm not sure there are many drummers playing stuff that Steve "can't do." But he isn't god. Agreed. The cool thing about Gadd is that he is so versatile and he ALWAYS executes. Always. His playing is always tasteful and complex enough to wow people. Those other guys you mention are amazing, too. Brian Blade, Jeff Hamilton, Peter Erskine... those guys are some of my favs, too. I do always come back to Gadd and get surprised at how good he really is though. He played some pretty amazing stuff.

No kidding. And his execution is flawless. He plays exactly what he is thinking, and he completely pulls off everything he tries. So good.

I love steve's solo. They are more melodic not just abunch of crazy fast fills. Very groovey

The germane point here, is not that other younger drummers can do this and more - but that this is Gadd's thing; it's his voice, his style and his originality that allowed legions of successors to play with more thoughtful grooves.
Just enjoy it, for Gadd's sake!
