SHERYLL: The only way I can think of is to just say it.
SAM: But... but...
SHERYLL: Sam, this is Kevin we're talking about. You know he loves you.
SAM: But this is a baby!
[Sam pointed to her self]
SHERYLL: You know Kevin would want to know about this. He would be so mad if you didn't tell him.
SAM: You don't understand. You're not the one who's pregnant.
SHERYLL: Well, did you know that Kevin thinks I'm bulimic! And he told Joe!
SAM: I'm sorry. I don't want you and Joe to fight over something that doesn't even affect you.
SHERYLL: Of course this affects me. I'm your friend and I'm going to help you through this. But Kevin needs to help you, too.
[Sam sat on her bed]
SAM: How about later, before dinner?
SHERYLL: That's fine. Let's go make lunch before the boys start getting creative in the kitchen and burn the place down.
SAM: Ok. I'm starving.
[Sheryll and Sam looked at each other and laughed all the way down the stairs. Kevin, Joe and Nick were standing around in the kitchen. Nick was staying away from the pans and Joe looked like he was making pancakes]
JOE: How do you guys feel about crunchy pancakes?
SAM: Why are they crunchy?
KEVIN: Because some of the eggshells fell into the mixing bowl.
SHERYLL: [Sighing] We'll cook lunch.
JOE: Thanks.
[Joe kissed Sheryll on the forehead and walked out with Nick. Kevin gave Sam a quick hug before heading after them]

[Later that day, they all gathered in the playroom, which Joe had fully furnished with a home theater, foosball table, pool table, and a separate area just for video games]
FRANKIE: Hey, it's my turn Nick.
[Frankie took the Wii control out of Nick's hand so he could have his turn to bowl]
NICK: I'm still going to beat you.
JOE: Can you guys turn it down? We're trying to watch here.
[They were watching The Notebook and Joe was trying to show his sensitive side by crying]
SHERYLL: You're not that great of an actor yet, Joe.
KEVIN: Yeah, why don't you stick to making jokes.
[Kevin laughed and Joe threw popcorn at him]
SAM: Hey, Kevin, can I talk to you?
[Sam wanted to postpone this moment, but Sheryll had been eyeing her through the whole movie]
KEVIN: Sure.
[Kevin took her by the hand and together they walked out into the backyard. He waited for her to start talking]
SAM: There's something that I need to tell you. And it's... pretty important.
KEVIN: What is it?
[Kevin sensed her anxiousness, so he helped her into a chair and put his arm around her]
KEVIN: Whatever it is, I'll always love you. It won't change anything between us.
SAM: Actually, this might.
[Kevin watched as Sam put her hand over her shirt]
SAM: Kevin, I'm... pregnant.
[Sam watched as Kevin took in the information]
KEVIN: You're pregnant.
[She couldn't tell if he was happy about the news or mad]
SAM: I'm sorry. I didn't want to tell you, but Sheryll made me and—
KEVIN: Wait. So that wasn't Sheryll I heard...
SAM: No, that was me.
KEVIN: How long have you known?
SAM: Since last night.
[Kevin took both of Sam's hands in his and looked her in the eyes]
KEVIN: I'm sorry... that I don't have an engagement ring at the moment.
[Sam's hopes had fallen when she heard him say he was sorry, but she let out a laugh after he finished his sentence]
KEVIN: I told you, I love you and I will love this baby too.
SAM: You had me worried there for a second.
KEVIN: [Smiling] You shouldn't worry, it's not healthy for the baby. I hope it's a boy so he can be Kevin III.
SAM: How are we going to tell your parents?
KEVIN: Maybe we should wait. I'll try to get them alone when we're back at home.
SAM: Ok. I need to tell my parents, too.
[It grew quiet between them and Kevin put his arm around Sam again. It was starting to get dark as the sun dipped lower beneath the horizon]
KEVIN: I'm really excited about this.
SAM: You are?
KEVIN: Yeah. I think we should've gotten married first, but I'm happy I'm going to be a dad.
SAM: If you're happy about it, then I am too.

[Joe, Nick and Sheryll were standing behind the glass window, watching Kevin and Sam talk]
NICK: Can you hear what they're saying?
JOE: No. They're too far away.
SHERYLL: They're probably talking about the baby.
NICK: Baby? What baby?
SHERYLL: Oh, that's right. You don't know yet.
[Nick stared at Joe until he pushed him away]
NICK: What baby?
JOE: Sam's pregnant.
NICK: How?
JOE: Do I really need to explain that part?
NICK: No. I meant, since when, they haven't... Have they?
SHERYLL: Obviously.
NICK: So, that's why Kevin doesn't wear his purity ring. He told me he lost his.
[The 3 of them walked into the living room. Nick sat at the piano while Joe and Sheryll listened from the couch]
NICK: Hey Sheryll.
[Nick played a soft melody]
SHERYLL: Yeah?
NICK: I took your advice and bought a ticket to LA.
SHERYLL: That's great. I promise I won't tell Sarah.
NICK: Thanks. But I need help with a few details.
SHERYLL: Like what?
