The lid in this video has just the right amount of tension. The defective hinges would show wobble, and probably fall closed when at a 30 or less closing angle.
Since it is almost impossible to de-laminate the screen bezel without damaging it, complete replacement of the screen is often required to replace the hinges!
Apple does suck! Some of their products don't. Some do.

Don't worry about it, when it starts wearing out it should get looser. Just enjoy it :)

C'mon people. I understand that the MacBook Air is the latest and greatest device from apple but you can not expect it to be absolutely PERFECT upon the first 6 months of it being released. I also understand that it is Apple, everyone EXPECTS it to be perfect. But like any other device that has ever been released there is going to be an issue of some sort. Like I've always done, just wait a couple months, keep in touch with whats going on THEN, go out and buy it..

I heard those have good DVD-Driv- OH WAIT
-
thats normal i guess my mbp doesnt do it
but the base of the air is lighter then then the hinge.

Too loose? You should have gotten that checked out at the apple store.
-
you have to remember that if the hinge is just a tiny bit to tight the light weight front will lift right up. But good video.
