VIDEO: BOSA Properties starts work on The Sovereign

Bosa Properties has begun construction on The Sovereign, a mixed use residential complex located in Burnaby, British Columbia that boasts condominiums, a hotel, retail businesses and reaches 511 feet into the air.

Burnaby, British Columbia mayor Derek Corrigan was one of the dignitaries at the groundbreaking ceremony, held on September 13. He remarked that the Sovereign is one part of the city's plan to create a downtown hub for the community.

The Sovereign will also have long-stay suites in the hotel complex. Bosa VP Daryl Simpson said while designing and building such suites is more complicated and costly than standard hotel rooms, it's a challenge his firm is used to tackling.The hotel is also pursuing LEED certification.

Completion of construction is estimated for the spring of 2014.
