This vlog was recorded on January 18th by Asmaa Mahfouz, the girl who helped start it all. She had shared it on her Facebook, and it had gone viral. It was so powerful and so popular, that it drove Egyptians by the thousands into Tahrir Square, and drove the Egyptian government to block Facebook . I'll shut up now and let Asma talk.

  • @oliviatang5 I am an agnostic but just because she mentions god you throw out her message and value. Many of the people I admire more than most others are quite religious: Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr, Malcolm X, Cornell West. There are great people and horrible people on both sides of the question of religion.

A person and their ideas should not be cast aside simply by whether they believe in a god or gods or not believe but by the quality of character and their ideas.

  • @BuddhaPacific You are absolutely right, my friend.

  • This is a true hero. I wish I was with you! Equality isn't hard and neither is respect. It has nothing to do with gender.

  • this woman is very brave

  • @podcastdude Not sure I understand; what is the significance of you being an American?

  • Make youtube subtitles, they are cut off sometimes on the bottom.

  • Without a doubt this woman is my hero. Im getting a tattoo in her honor. We all need to learn a thing or two from her. To be able to stand up in a society like this, to put your face out there and put your life on the line for the freedom of others without anything in return.... I respect people like this.

  • From the top comments... if you think the concept of a god is ridiculous, you yourself are ridiculous. There's absolutely no proof for, but there's absolutely no proof against. Is it innocent until proven guilty, or guilty until proven innocent? - If it helps people make decisions empowering their fellow man, and good for all, then who *cares* where it comes from. Judge the idea, not the source.

  • We all need this fire inside and sooner rather than later because one day it could be too late.

  • Very brave and passionate young lady!! I hope tens of thousands join her to fight against their oppression; what's that saying...."Evil prevails when good men do nothing". That is her message too! Don't be cowards; at least try to change things!! My love and prayers to all Egyptians from my home in Canada!!
