  • i have always wondered...if someone had there hands firmly gripped on the steering wheel when another car hit that person from the side, would they break their wrists...in almost all side impact crash test videos...you can see the steering wheel violently turn....any answers would be appreciated

  • That is a very good question

  • well no i don't think so..

the steering wheel hardly moves in most of the cases

your hands would probably just fly off it

  • @djbk7456 The 2010 crash safety ratings are better. After November 2009 they improved there safety standards.

  • Any ER/ED nurse in the house to answer? Well, my boss's daughter got into a frontal accident and pushed her pinky finger into the wheel and went to 180 degree. She got corrective surgery to put finger back to normal place. However, from alhussieni71 1 year ago comment of neck injuries and/or shoulder injuries are very common.

  • Isn't that the 2010 elantra hd? cause we have it and it looks the same. also on their website it says that the rating is good not marginal.

  • @caraddict520 ,,, the awnser will be no , i had the same accident back in 2007 a box truck ran the red light and struck from the driver side at 45 mph cause me a broken nose , c5,c6 and c7 fracture in my nick and legitimate and cartridge in leg but no broken wrist ( thanks god ) it wasnt nice but i hope that helps ..

  • My guess is the impact knocks there hand off the wheel right before it turns.

  • The Side Airbag and Curtains work perfectly but its just the Side Structure of the Car is Weak thats why it got 3 Stars for Side Crash Test. Im not sure.

  • any side in any car is weak coz its just a damin door

  • Often thought that also.. I've heard people that have broken there wrists in frontal impacts. But as you said during side impacts the wheels twist violently and therefore the steering wheel must turn also. So I guess they must.
