  • Hey Marine Dr.

You need an outboard on the back of that ambulance.

  • :)

    Yes I do

  • Lake test the boat and see if it performs well enough. <---that is the best way to check it.

After the lake test, check the gear oil for filings.

  • I actually had a guy show up at the shop the other day insisting I sell him TCW2 because that is what his manual called for....made for a tough sell when I had to convince him that TCW3 was its replacement.

  • Fair enough but why go buy another used one for $4000 only to have it pack out the same way? The thing is one the motor has been fixed with new rings etc etc it will last much longer than buy another second hand one.

  • $3K for 6 pistons, rings and machine work is quite reasonable, same price around here (Boston).

    Its worth doing.

    Good video.

  • Hello, I am hoping you can answer a question I have... I have a 1983 Johnson 175 in which I am planning on doing new pistons and rings in. I am needing to know if those motors have Nikasil cylinders? I am having a tough time finding out the answer to that question. Thanks in advance!

  • Do you have an accurate idea of how much fuel the motor uses at a given revolution rate?

    per hour,

    L

  • You are one good honest mechanic , you will have a lot of friends and age peacefully over your life time but never be rich.

  • lol 3 grand u can build a jet boat motor for that price

  • you have to get the mike next to you because you sound so far away even with the volume full

  • Wow that is some serious piston slappage.

  • That motor's about 25 years old and probably not worth $3000 to fix one cylineder, especially if the engine is worn in general.

  • Very well put about the oil, you know your stuff :) Keep up the good work!
