The Tin Woodsman is a multimedia animation created by Greg Tatum. The story is a retelling of the origins of the Tin Woodsman as is told in the fourteen original books of The Wizard of Oz series written by L. Frank Baum. The animation features a wide variety of processes, from digital models and sets, to hand drawn characters and miniatures.

  • Haha, yeah. You can imagine my surprise when about a year later I caught the whole woodsman vs. woodman, although at this point it's too late to change it.

Second problem: Yeah it doesn't follow the Oz paradigm 100%. Plus at the time I was watching lots of samurai movies and I liked the idea of marrying the kids story genre with darker themes like the traditional folk fairy tales.

    Thanks for watching.

  • I have mixed feelings here. It's good, it doesn't quite match what Baum wrote. Nimmee Amee still loved Nick, stating that she loved him even more that he was metal, which made him unlike any other man.

I do like the design of his body, it seems more human like than the barrel that John R. Neill drew. All in all, good animation, fun to watch.

Any chance of seeing a sequel, with the Tin Soldier or Chopfyt?

  • Thanks on the feedback, I'm working on a sequel featuring Scarecrow, Tik Tok, and Nick Chopper. It's more loosely based off of the stories, just taking various worlds and situations, and blending them together along with things from my own imagination.
