Ravel and Steffen Peters scored 75.25 and took 1st place in the Grand Prix at the 2008 Collecting Gaits Farm/USEF Dressage Festival of Champions held at the Oaks Blenheim in San Juan Capistrano, California on Saturday June 28th, 2008.
Steffen Peters
Born: September 18, 1964
Hometown: San Diego, CA
Horse: Ravel (10-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding; Owned by Aikko Yamazaki)
Steffen Peters has two very viable horses for the 2008 Olympic Games. Ravel has been invincible this year - winning in every outing of the early 2008 season. Beginning with the CDI-W Burbank, where Ravel picked up two Grand Prix wins, and continuing at the CDI3 Del Mar, and CDI3 Burbank, he has a total of six Grand Prix victories through June. Though still relatively inexperienced, the gelding has demonstrated he is ready to shine on the world stage.
2007 was a break out year for Steffen Peters and Lombardi 11. They traveled to New Jersey from California to win the USEF/Collecting Gaits Farm Festival of Champions at the Grand Prix level and traveled to Aachen, Germany to represent the U.S. in the CDIO3.
2006 was an amazing year for peters and the electric chestnut gelding Floriano. Steffen and Floriano swept all three phases of competition at the 2006 Collecting Gaits Farm/USEF National Grand Prix Dressage Championship in Gladstone, NJ, landing them the anchor spot on the 2006 FEI World Equestrian Games team. At the 2006 FEI World Equestrian Games in Aachen, the pair stepped up to the plate and was crucial in capturing the Team Bronze medal.
Floriano and Peters were named the alternates on the 2004 Athens Olympic team. Peters won his first Olympic medal, a Team Bronze, at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics aboard Udon. He has also won the Grand Prix Freestyle at the CDI-W Burbank. In 2003, Peters and Grandeur were part of the U.S. Team to compete at CDIO Aachen, where they were an integral part of the Team Silver medal. They took the reserve championship title at the U.S. Freestyle Championship in March 2002. The pair went on to place eight in the FEI World Cup Final in 's-Hertogenbosh, the Netherlands. In 1994, he won individual and Team Gold medals at the U.S. Olympic Festival.
Born in Germany, Peters has been in the United States since 1985 and became a United States citizen in 1992. Peters and his wife, Shannon Barnes, operate a training facility in the San Diego area. Barnes is also a noted dressage rider, competing at the 2005 National Intermediate I Dressage Championship in Gladstone, NJ, where the couple went head-to-head. Peters and Barnes finished one-two respectively.

Ravel is such a gorgeous horse. It's funny how average he looks in his stall though. He's not stuck up as you'd expect. he wants treats and pets just as much as other horses. he's really very sweet. and steffen's a nice guy, very polite and kind.

That's the way it's supposed to be done! Maybe some of the FEI judges should get this video in the mail.

Steffen Peters is one of our all time favourite riders (along with Kyra!). Nothing looks jammed or forced with him.

that trot at the beginning... *sigh* wow.
This horse... this rider.. everything i want to be... wow.
One thing is Ravel needs a bit more hind engagement.. he's a bit lazy back there. but hey, my horse is not ONE BIT better!

god that horse is beautiful. I love the trot at the very beginning--like he weighs nothing at all!
