Anna Caterina Antonacci as Medea, Epidaurus 2007. "E che? Io son Medea!". 46 years after the Callas Medea at the Ancient Epidaurus Theatre, Anna Caterina Antonacci brings the tragic heroine to life! She 's no Callas but she sure sang a very decent Medea in a huge open-air theatre, with the Orchestra behind her and with a terrible maestro (Lukas Karytinos). This is the first part of the Finale.
@Faust075 how so?

This is everything you want but Medea ... This is pathetic !

@aztequedeor I think she's really good singer, great voice...just not for this! Hear it with Dimitrova, Verrett or Callas and you'll see the bechmark those set for this role!

I guess everyone is entitled to their own opinions, I say she's the best.

She sings this role like if it was Mozart!
Her voice is in a 'straight jacket'.
It need a singer like Verrett, or Dimitrova to bring this to life. Its needs a voice with power of dramatic attack and great declamatto...She's not good enough! Too 'cookie cutter' type of voice!

Totally,good rendition.She was a mezzo,but the slow notes seem weak,some wobble,but musically ok and more.

Penoso...Fundamentalmente cuando uno la vio en otras épocas, de un esplendor, obviamente que ya no existe...
