also roll your calf muscles with "the stick", 4in pvc pipe or buy a foam roller. the harder the better for your muscles. dont do it at the bottom of the tendon close to the heal.
ive also had problems with my achilles for about 2 years now too. it just recently started feeling a little better. tried everything from heal lifts, new shoes, superfeet insoles, physical therapy (which seemed to make it worse), light stretching and all different types of icing such as ice dipping and ice massages. i felt like just staying positive and keep up with doing light stretching with icing after has helped the most.
I have had a problem with my achilles tendon for about 2 years. I first went to Kaiser Permenente they recomended stretching with a towel. About a year later, I was given heel pads. The condition worsened, and every now and then I could feel my achilles tendon twitch and move back into place "pop" with pain:scared the hell out of me! Recently, I had a fiber-glass-hard medical cast put on my lower leg and foot! Hopefully, this works! I just hope the hospital isn't trying to avoid surgery costs!
