My friend moved to Houston like 7 months ago. He says to me that my ass is coming down for a visit. I also grew up thinking that Texas was nothing but Cows, Bulls, Farms, Ranches, Oil Fields, Rattlesnakes, and JR Ewing. Houston is not a terrible city, if you can't handle the heat then stay away. I was born and raised there. I currently live in Northern Cali and it SUCKS! That's what I get for marrying a military man. I sure miss whataburger...

I've been thinking about trying to move to Houston in the future. I live in Las Vegas and I love it here but I've grown up in Phoenix/Las Vegas my whole life and I kind of just want something new instead of the desert but I hate the cold, so I want to stick to somewhere hot.

Say what you will about Houston being hot, sprawled, ugly, polluted, etc. - it's not for everyone, sure. But it's the fifth largest metropolitan economy in the US with one of the most robust job markets and by far the fastest growing one. It's also one of the most diverse cities in the country with all the big city amenities at a small town price. Scenery? I find some of these mega-freeway corridors as impressive and awe-inspiring as any mountain backdrop. Great city.
