this song being played in the background of this movie made us feel all the mans emotions the child like reaction to seeing this evil guard who stole their childhoods and for some their futures then the power as the songs words"water spirit feeling springing round my head makes me feel glad that im not dead"escalated as he washed his face, looked in the mirror for the 1sttime he was alive his spirit had returned he could rid the devil

@JH30904 Actually, I believe that was the version by Harper's Bazaar; check it out... ;)

So cool. In the past few months, it popped into my head and I couldn't get it out. I've always been interested and fascinated with Indian (American) music and I remember this on the radio. I was about 11 when this was a hit. Can you imagine a time when something like this could be a HIT? How cool?!?

made it to # 61 in march 1969 in cashbox charts. too many people blow off these charts from the '60's, however billboard was just as unreliable back then.i should know i worked in a record store between august 67 & april 70.

Clevelander - WMMS - what a station - and I was mesmerized by this song. Still know all the lyrics and sing them to calm myself down when I get too antsy or about to explode. Works every time.

@lipssmear19 There is no way to convey the feeling, the attitudes, the magical sense of awe as new things unfolded daily. The smell of patchoili oil and marijuana Everyone has a deifferent perspective of course, but through my eyes it was unreal and awesome and a little bit scary.I was afraid of the free sex attitude, and afraid of LSD and the hard drugs that took over starting in about 1970 as the summer of love wound down...

Thanks, Entresource and if you're that couple, I always wondered what happened to you two. I think it was 1974 and the guy called his sweetheart BeverEver' Ring a bell, anyone?

You were at the Filmore west coast...COOL, I have read so so much about so many great places... people, the stuff you all saw and did, People Cared way way more then for...humanity and our Earth, and each other... Love did almost save the World. And it is All we need, if everyone was filled with it, things would work out...but that's...never gonna be. And at least you all DID create a LEGEND.. And that..is the whole scene, the Counter Culture..TY

Who remembers this song in the background in the movie "Sleepers," when the two guys are in the bar and notice the for mer prison guard (Kevin Bacon) that raped them in juvi.. They go up to him and shoot the shit out of him. Classic stuff!

I do not relate this to a movie that involved violence and killing. I relate this to the proud American Indian and their tradition. I related it to the spirit and the pride and joy in living. I relate it to my younger days and some very special times.
