Slokar Quartet plays in Szeged on reneissance trombones...

The Slokar Quartet whose members are Branimir Slokar, György Gyivicsan, Wassil Christov and Armin Bachmann, have already celebrated their 35th anniversary.

During this long and fruitful period of intense concert activity all over the world they have built up a very broad repertoire which ranges from arrangements of early baroque music to first performances of contemporary works. These four dedicated mudicians delight their audiences with their homogeneous sound, their brilliant virtuosity and their profound musicianship, which they often present in a very charming and humorous manner.

Many important contemporary composers have been inspired to collaborate intensively with the Slokar Quartet, which has led to a significant expansion of present-day trombone literature.

The Slokar Quartet's excellent reputation is a result of their numerous international concert tours, CD-productions, radio and television appearances.

  • This is why you should never wash your trombone in hot water. See what happens? :-)

  • They are sackbuts. Ancestor's to the trombones we know today. And the one on the left is NOT a contrabass... just simply a bass sackbut.

  • Wow, great playing ;-)

  • Wow!!!

  • Great old music, very well played!

  • tök jól szól,de tényleg. (Gyé, beteg vagy egy kicsit, vagy.....?)

  • It's worth pointing out that these instruments are a lot closer to modern trombones than sackbuts. Construction entirely out of brass, bell flares on the upper 3 instruments, multiple braces between the gooseneck and bell, and not to mention spit valves, all mark these as modern trombones with tiny bores rather than sackbuts or any other true renaissance trombone. Given the volume and brightness of sound as well, I doubt they're playing on period-style mouthpieces...

  • Brilliant! That was impressive. What a great quartet. Thanks for posting!

  • Hy:) It's Antonio Valente: Lo Ballo dell'Intorcia

  • if you think you're better than these guys then post an video answer...
