As a Volunteer in VA, I can personally say these are the hardest moments. The ones that will haunt you for the rest of your life. When you see a person dead or dying...and you know that no matter what you do, you can change their fate..you couldnt save them no matter how hard you tried...

@COUNTRYMAN223 as a volunteer firefighter in a small town in Colorado back in 1995, I recall responding to a TA on I-25 with a Suzuki Sidekick roll-over at 3am. The man was driving and was DOA. The woman jaw was at a 90 angle of her face still screaming as I was getting the backboard while my team was using the jaws of life to get her out...it still hits home but getting a call that involves children is for me was the worse.
