0,5 ml Essigessenz werden in einer hohen Ampulle mit 1 Tropfen Phenolphthalein-Lösung versetzt. 20 Tropfen (1 ml) Natronlauge (8 %) werden zugefügt. Unter ständigem Schütteln wird weiter Natronlauge zugefügt, bis gerade die Rotfärbung des Indikators nicht mehr verschwindet. Im Aluminiumbecher eines Teelichts wird die Flüssigkeit dann auf einem Teelichtbrenner zur Trockne eingedampft. 0.5 ml of acetic acid 25 % ("vinegar essence") are mixed with 1 drop of phenolphthalein solution in a high ampoule. 20 drops (1 mL) of sodium hydroxide solution (8 %) are added. Under continuous shaking more drops of this solution are added until the red colour of the indicator does no longer disappear. The solution is the heated to dryness in the beaker of a tea light.
