Gil Evans' arrangement of 'Smoking My Sad Cigarette', originally written for Lucy Reed in 1957. This is the first live performance of this arrangement EVER since Gil originally wrote it. It was recorded for the first time by Kate McGarry on our new record, CENTENNIAL: Newly Discovered Works of Gil Evans (ArtistShare), which includes the first time recordings of ten never-before-heard arrangements of Gil Evans. This performance is featuring Kate McGarry with Ryan Truesdell and the Gil Evans Project from the Jazz Standard, May 20, 2012, in New York City, celebrating Gil's centennial and the release of this new record.
