what if your child has this condition? would you say bad things to them huh?? please stop being so immature. why do you guys even watch this video and comment bad things about it that we all know that there are BILLIONS other videos on youtube. if you dont like it then dont watch it.

@CyJoZa for your information my brother was born with this, and my mother is ALLERGIC to alcohol. My brother got this problem due to a random stroke in the prenatal state. He ain't dead, and it ain't her fault. It seems you take pride it making fun of people whos children are born with something like this. For those who had it by accident, it is a privilege. For those who had no care to prevent it, it is a burden. One day your words will backfire.

@custardaghost well actually, it is because the the brain formed wrong that the face did. My brother has the condition, but at a milder state. He is just slowed in life, he has to teach himself to do things, like walk and talk for instance. He will be completely normal once he gets older. Though sadly not all children with this are so fortunate, and not all prenatal care can see this before it happens.Not all children with this have no chance

@mysteh1 Depending on the cause and severity, it can range from a few days or weeks to a healthy life. The child in this video probably would not survive long because his nasal cavity in within his mouth, and he would probably choke within a few days to a week and die. My brother has the condition, and he just is slowed in production of movement. He is 9 going on 10 but moves like that of a 7 month old. He can move, but has to teach himself to. He is expected to have a full, healthy life.

The range in brain malformation is similarly wide ranging from mild intellectual or developmental delay to severe (with the most severe being the alobar form as represented above). In the most severe form there is no separation of the hemispheres of the brain. This is often undiagnosed in pregnancy and when it is, a family has every right to make the decision to go forward (or not) with the pregnancy. It is thoughtless, tactless and shows an utter lack of humanity to say otherwise

Also for thos of you interested, holoprosencephaly is a condition that is extremely variable in spectrum. It is a failure of the midline structures to fuse during development that results in characteristic brain and facial malformations. The range in facial characteristics can be as severe as a single or fused eyeball as seen in the above photo to as mild as having a single central incisor with no other features (often undiagnosed).

Holoprosencephaly can also be familial or hereditary in nature caused by specific genetic changes (mutations), several of which have been identified. Whoever said this was caused by an alcoholic mother was likely far off base. It has been proposed that alcohol use, as well as maternal diabetes mat both be factors for increased risk along with a number of other environmental and genetic factors just like being overweight increases your risk for heart disease but doesn't mean everyone with

It's unfortunate that many are quick to jump to conclusions without doing their research. This condition is actual the most common congenital brain malformation occurring as often as 1 in 250 pregnancies, however the majority go on to spontaneously abort (miscarry). It can be caused by a number of factors, many of which are not yet well understood. The most common causes are chromosome abnormalities.
