Actually, isn't a hectare but 2.5 acres? So that's then 25,000 acres, 640 acres per square mile makes around 40 square miles burned, or only 100 square kilometers.
Anyway, Canada would have no obligation to keep a growing forest fire from spreading naturally across the border into the U.S., as nature knows so such boundaries.
A cigarette? Just another example what a dirty habit smoking is. But it could have been anything? Lightning, an escaped campfire, or a downed power line.

I had to work there 4 a week, it took us blood sweat tears n our reason of workin to get that fire out. if i remembered, it was on the boarder line of canada n the US, not sure really, but we drove along way south 4 this. but at least it was out.

i recently went dirtbiking past the spot it burnt i have truely never seen such destruction... for miles anything was black.....this fire was around or just over 10000 hectars which if im correct 1000 sq kilometers....i live miles away from where it started and i could see the flames by the time they even started to control it

Wow, that forest fire looks beautiful, from a distance but of course.
From a single tree? Was it lightning? That might have been nice to see in a video?
I think they should let more forest fires burn unchallenged, if not headed for some populated area. Clear out some of that building-up fuel. Let more forest fires grow naturally, even in drought, leave to nature to manage for minimal cost to taxpayers. Nature didn't seem to need our "help" before?
Why not on news?: Most of forest didn't burn.

Wow that was taken right outside my house. I saw it grow from a single tree to severel hectares in about an hour. Scary shit.
