"Sametime 3D" is an ongoing IBM Research and Lotus initiative to integrate enterprise business applications with virtual world applications. The demonstration shows the integration of Lotus Sametime with OpenSim. Users of Sametime within an enterprise can invite meeting participants using group chat, select a virtual meeting space type (formal conference room, theater, collaboration space), upload files and generate a meeting space "on demand". Users are authenticated through internal authentication tools used for IBMs internal network. In-world functions include presentation viewer, brainstorming wall, monthly calendar view, sign in board, an action wall for documenting plans and a meeting content export capability. Sametime voice chat can be used to enable voice discussion during in world meetings. Future research under consideration includes additional reporting capabilities, enhanced voice integration, integration with other virtual world platforms, development of additional in world tools to support collaboration, and integration with 2D applications.

Whatever money IBM has thrown into this product they have wasted. I honestly can't think of any real world application in which this would be an advantage over any current meeting tools.
In fact I can see this as a big disadvantage, as people are sitting at their desks walking around in a virtual environment their fat asses are just getting wider..
Thank you IBM you've made fat america EVEN FATTER by implementing this environment over a product that could stand to lose a few pounds itself!
I Love this Video and also I checked out your Channel. Very interesting! If you need any help getting this Video and your Channel exposed to were it is top in all the search I found this site called tubeviews.(net) that has took my breath away. I'm working on my 4th Channel now, this one I just made. My Videos are getting so many hits now. Check it out and keep in touch.
Nothing new here: It still requires a big down load, can't be used in most corporations from inside the firewall,... The instant meeting problem is solved by Altadyn with the 3DX/Online meeting solution, which is better integrated in Lotus, as it's browser based, and does not require any client installation. Just click on the URL in the instant messaging window or the e-mail and get into the meeting. oH BTW, no need to pre-upload the power-point presentation either...hehehe...
