The fantastic British countertenor Iestyn Davies performing Händel's great aria "But Who May Abide The Day of His Comin" from his masterwork "Messiah".

Iestyn Davies
Britten Sinfonia
Stephen Layton

I do not own the rights to this recording. It is purely brought to you because it is performed so beautifully by this marvelous artist.

  • I also like this version. Intelligent and well-sung, with a two octave range, very unusual for this voice type. He is not afraid to sing down to the bottom of the contralto range.

  • Like a crystal bell.

  • I had the enormous priviledge last weekend of standing on the same platform as Iestyn and hearing this performed live, when he joined the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and Choir for our annual Messiah. All I can say is that it was an absolute joy to hear such a wonderful performance. If you ever get the chance to hear him live, don't miss it - you won't be disappointed!

  • @swtkerima Haha, I would hope he's better. He's one of the best countertenors on earth.

  • My choir did this at Christmas, this soloist is soooo much better!! Great sound.

  • I particularly love the restrained use of ornamentation.

  • He does have a beautiful voice! Loved this!
