Here’s an example, using “Pascagoula” and “Mexico” in the same song. “Fisherman’s daughter”? Buffett cornered the market on clichés from the “Redneck Riviera” long ago. We all know this. Thank God in heaven! There's more than one video of Wade Curtis. Just when I thought there was nothing as boring or depressing as Todd Snider, voilà! "Little Miss Born To Lose" brought to you by "Big Mr Born To Bore Ass"! I for one was sorry to see the video end but relieved at the same time. I could see a sniper on the water tower in the fake backdrop taking aim at BTBA. Whew! Wait...... look at that..... this is the same guy I saw all those years ago. His real name's DeCroce. Small world.

David Allen Coe knew this back around 1978 when he wrote “Jimmy Buffett Doesn't Live in Key West Anymore”. Of late Alan Jackson, Kenny Chesney and Zac Brown have all sucked off the Buffett tit. Nothing new under the sun I’m afraid. The hard truth is it's mostly not what you write or how you sing, it’s who you know.

I've been in the biz most of my life. I suspect you're making something out of this and that's great. You only get one go 'round and you gotta go for it. Best wishes to you!

Now beyond the sexual orientation, here's a serious opinion. The songs are just fine allowing for the cliches, they do come with the genre. You didn’t need anyone to tell you that. The videos and performances were well done. I'll get to the real critique in the next comment.
