  • first i would have used a drill bit or forsner bit 3" to make it easier to hollow,mind you i make hundreds of this a year ed

  • Ok! But in my bowl there is a small bowl in the middle for decorations and as a handle. The collumn in the middle supports the bowl under the hollowing process just in case the bowl want´s to fly.

  • It would have been easier, yes, but the way he's doing it also mimics the way it was done for hundreds of years before the invention of the lathe chuck. If you ever get to watch spring-pole lathe turners, this is how they make bowls. They didn't have the option of a using anything but between centers
