I don't know. It might have to do with him being 42 years old, having had eight surgeries, pitching while injured or just having come back from another surgery to give it one last shot. Maybe you can ask the same thing of Nolan Ryan or Orel Hershiser when you get the chance. Ask them why they can pitch anymore.

oh well, spoke 2 soon... just heard the news. smoltz is leaving!!OMG, how hard was it to dig in your pockets just a little deeper to let him end his career here and give us fans the pleasure to witness that!! THIS SUCKS!!!

As fans we have to become more supportive, I come from california and get so hype being at turner field and it seems alot of the fans take it all for granted.. I love my braves and love my Smoltz.. I am so proud to be a fan of a player that has given his all for one team, and a team that given so much to it's fans... I am so ready for this season !!! LET"S DO THIS BRAVES !!
