Women chanting at Potala Palace Lhasa Tibet

While these women were chanting they were also keeping rhythm by pounding the floor with sticks that had a bag of rocks tied on the bottom of the sticks. The pounding serves a purpose....they smooth the floor....look at the surface where I was standing. See how rough it is. These women will sing or chant and pound the floors of the Palace until it's a lot smoother than where I was standing. In most places it's remarkably smooth there.
