I purchased this gun at a garage sale at the beginning of summer, it's an original Tippmann SL-68 (NOT a SL-68 II) and came with a receipt from 1990. Believe it or not this is the first time i have tried to put it together.

The gun seems to be able to shoot fine, but there is a pretty big gas leak, and it happens to act like a fire extinguisher whenever it is cocked.

If anybody has information regarding fixing this gun or helping in ANY way, please PM me or leave a comment.

  • dont use CO2 u bimbo

  • @sRoAmNeDgOuMy

It was designed for CO2, you idiot. HPA wasn't readily available back then.

  • It's not an o-ring. After closer inspection, it seems as though the power tube is broken and is in need of replacement. Tried to ix it and the gun DOES shoot now, but still has a bit of the 'fire-extinguisher' thing going on.

Will sell to best offer, will take trades. PM me for details.

  • Can you use HPA

  • The only other problem you will EVER have with an original SL-68 is the valve tube. You need to lubricate the rubber end of the valve tube assembly when you install it, and make sure it's in fully and straight and that both set screws are tightened properly to hold the valve tube in place.

  • It's the length of the pump arm. WITHOUT the air on it pump it back slowly till you hear the click of it engaging the reciever and immediately stop. If the pump at that point is not touching the body of the gun the pump arm is too long. You can screw the arm further into the pump with a pair of pliers. Then reinstall it and do the same thing, listen for the click and make sure the pump is against the body of the gun. If you get no click, screw it out a turn at a time till you do.

  • Probably your cup seal. Good looking gun.

  • @shanman1221 What upgrade allowed you to mount the CO2 tank where the velocity adjuster is? Brand name or custom?

  • lol I have a similar problem. But mine happens with every Tippmann I touch. but the best way to solve the Problem is buy something that not made by Tippmann. hehe that should solve the Problem..... and start a flame war

  • loooooooooooooooool

  • that is probely cus its old but that shouldnt effect it. get new o rings. clean it. make sure theres a gasket on ur co2 tip thingy. and remeber pump paintball will dominate all of paintball cus it kicks as
