I was listening to this interview again, and the part about whether or not it mattered if you were black and white got me thinking back to circa 1998 when I had a bias against/hatred towards the boybands beginning to blow up, i.e. The Backstreet Boys, NSync, 98°, etc. I still dislike them, just not because they're white guys singing with "soul" anymore.

It's sort of a double standard on my part because I actually liked/still like Darius Rucker and the band he was in. (Hootie & the Blowfish)
