Laser Command
Laser Command is a software package designed to allow a user to use a laser pointer to control the mouse displayed on a projected computer screen. The system runs on a computer, whose GUI is being projected and receives input from a network camera. The captured images from the camera are accessed by this computer over a 802.3 local area network. The network camera is set up to view the projected screen such that the software can use the pictures it takes to find the location of the user’s laser point and compare this position with the boundaries of the projected screen. The software will then take this information and move the computer’s mouse to that location. While running our software, the computer’s mouse will follow a user’s laser pointer wherever he/she shines it, and will obey the simple commands flashed by the user. These include typical windows environment functions such as right, left, and double click; in addition to keyboard directional arrow keys. The setup of Laser Command is intended for use in professional office environments as well as in gaming applications.
