The Charleston, South Carolina law firm of Derfner, Altman, and Wilborn does 25% of its work for free, on behalf of the poor and disadvantaged. For this the firm won the 2007 American Bar Association's Pro Bono Publico Award, the most prestigious award an American law firm can be given.
