A reharmonization of Duke Ellington's "In a Sentimental Mood" (although perhaps my version should be re-named "In a Manic-Depressive Mood"), arranged and performed by Todd Allen Gates.

My three YouTube channels:

- http://youtube.com/user/ToddGates - my musician channel

- http://youtube.com/user/ToddAllenGates - where I discuss the ideas in my book "Dialogue with a Christian Proselytizer" (a dialogue between a Christian proselytizer and a Socratic skeptic)

- http://youtube.com/user/ToddAllenGates2 - where I discuss the ideas in my book "Hunting, Gathering, & Videogames" (such as "Why do we have to work?" and "Why do we have to use money?" and "How should we define 'success'?")

Thank you! I'd *like* to say that I came up with those chords spontaneously . . . but truth be known the reharmonizations took several hours to come up with, and then it took me another week or so of practice before I could play it.

    Thanks for listening!

  • Ha! This reminds me of Danny Elfman's violently bipolar "Waltz to the Death" from his 'Batman' score. Nicely done.

  • Yes---I suppose "violently bipolar" IS an appropriate description of my reharmonization ... glad you liked it!

  • Actually, those were great chord progressions. Like a more dark-bassy bill evans. But it was great! I should put more jazz vids up, do you do requests?

  • @shanevan1 not false im just saying hes htting notes that dont comply with the key its in, im not saying hes bad but im saying what i dont like about it and i dont fancy sloppy jazz too much

  • @antimatter92

    Lol false notes?...

Its Jazz...he isnt playing false notes...you can call them wrong, dirty nasty soundin notes...but no false notes here

In jazz it doesnt matter how far you go from "home" as long as you come back on time...if ya know what I mean ;P

    love this rendition

  • @PuzzledDragonVideo sorry but if you had an ear you would hear how many false notes he hits, and i hate electric piano's they sound so bad to me....no hate to people who like em though
