how do you get the tree to go in front of the plane as it goes by?

@lukedawson90 Track matte in after effects. Basically If I can recall what I did 4 years ago, I duplicated the background plate footage, adjusted it using probably colorama to make a crude black and white mask of the sky/trees, then used this pre-comp as a track matte to 'cut out' the parts of the 3d render that would be obscured by the trees.
Check out track mattes if you don't know what I mean. They're very handy!

@water2gashawaii Video is 4 years old and I could do a lot better now. Rather than simply criticise, you could have offered feedback as to how to improve it. Instead you went for the douche-bag approach and commented negatively. And subsequently are blocked.
