*** Race vs Nationality. Black, White, African American, Black American, Colored, Negro...all these terms are political in nature and represents ones STATUS (Politically) and not racially. Africa and America are the names of continents...not the names of races. Labeling ones self as "Black" or "White" has nothing to do with RACE, but more so to do with a Status. The question is, how are you affected by these status. Furthermore, we are all from the planet called EARTH.
all i got to say is african american have been brain watched lol........they always make fun of real african lol.... and why? i cant answer that question for myself
Patriotism is not distancing oneself from one's cultural heritage, it is not calling yourself Black American as opposed to African American. It is to put one's country first and to sacrifice one's life for it if necessary. In that respect both Malcom and Martin are shining examples of patriotism.
Malcom X underwent a profound spiritual and intellectual transformation just before his passing. It is necessary to contextualize historical and cultural events. When you say " Malcom didn't try to better himself" It raises one question in particular: where were you born? Because the Malcom that I know was all about " self-betterment" self-sustainment, economic leadership in Black communities and increased political and social participation on the part of Blacks.
Why are you creating artificial differences between BA and AA? The term " AA" situates Americans of African descent in their cultural-historical context. Whether or not you define yourself as such is a personal matter The construction of one's ethnic cultural identity is an inner journey that one undertakes at some point in life. How one defines oneself is not indicative of one's degree of patriotism or national loyalty.
