This is an old Zenith chassis I repaired many years ago and never finished the restoration. I pulled it out yesterday and fired it up...works like a champ.
@gsmarcano I think 1005 is the chassis, not the model of the radio itself. I have the same chassis I pulled out of a destroyed cabinet, it was a 10S464. Yes, I think the wiring on those are all rubber and are a pain in the @!# to repair!
I just bought a 1005 model Zenith,1940 and am going to restore it. Both cabinet and electronics although the electronics still work!, wiring is very bad though.
It was said that tube radios could survive the emp pulse from a nuclear bomb detonation,were as a transistor radio would be fried.I would not like to test that out,but find it believeable!
