this version of

"days" stands ( in my mind ) in contrast to The Carpenters version. I always thought Karen put herself in the place of a little child who is having a bad day..Freda"s version is much more mature sounding, like a woman waiting for her man to come back home from a business trip (or something)

OK! Nice observation in regards to the contrasting styles between these 2 artists's performances of this song.I never thought of it from that perspective but now that you stated it you are right! Both Karen and Freda nail this song in their own distinct ways. It shows that art-form is at the heart of music as well as and maybe at times even more than a song script.Nice getting your intelligent viewpoint! I feel that this song by Freda Payne got passed up so it's good getting your take.Thanks!

Freda does some wonderful "re-imaginings" on classic songs such as this one...Her version of "The Way We Were" and "A Song for You" on her Payne & Pleasure album are masterpieces as well...I just love the new nuances that she finds...The slowed down section of this song is so full of depth and introspection! Wonderful!!
