Q-What is the Hot Wired Dogs?
A-It is a marketing tool for the LWCN and it's members.
Q-Be more specific, please.
A-Well, it's an old fashioned hot dog vendor's cart that will set up shop at one of 5 locations, in the Lawndale community. The working crew will sell hot dogs, chips and soda, while passing out leaflets on LWCN's members perspective organizations' most current events. We will publicize community events, promote the wireless project and market refurbished computers, from the Danny K. Davis Job Training Program.
Q-But what does Hot Wired Dogs have to do with this?
A-There will be two workers, serving as a crew, a food vendor and a computer tech. The food vendor will handle the selling of hot dogs, chips and soda, while the computer tech will accompany the vendor, with his/her laptop, discussing/promoting various community programs, with a basic core of moving people into the arena of technology. Giving out helpful pointers that relate to a person's home computer, how to sign onto the Lawndale Beehive, where to go for housing assistance, after-school programs, VOTER REGISTRATION (IMPORTANT, RIGHT.) and the list is endless. The Topic of the Day (TOD) will depend on what's going on, in the Lawndale Community (Or outside the community, Greater Westside). This is where it's important for the members of the LWCN to fax or email to Edwina Howard, the volunteer in charge of Topic of the Day, so that the fliers could be dropped off and the crew could be briefed on that "topic", to the point where they would be able to discuss it.
Q-What is "wired"?
A-The plan is to have the mobile cart a "hot spot" that can move from place to place, within the Lawndale Community. We all know this can take a little bit of time, not to mention money, but we will ultimately get the cart wireless. Thus the "Hot Wired Dogs"
