  • Very interesting Gary. I was given a new Martin SO like yours as a present. I was extremely excited about it because of the reputation Martin have. The first thing that happened when I took it out of the bag was part of the name fell off. My Martin & Co now date from 183 (AD) . Like you I persevered, spent money getting it playable (the bridge was whopping 5.5mm out), lowering action, putting fret markers on and it still has intonation problems. My wife's NZ$40 Makala is better in every way.

Hi, Jim. Funny, I'd forgotten that part of my Martin logo dropped off, too. The luthier who did the pearl dots fixed it for me. Hope you learn to like your SO. Give my best to NZ; I have a daughter in Kerikeri and a couple of years ago made it to the New Zealand Ukulele Festival in Auckland with my grandchilren. Joyous day! Best wishes.

  • I'm glad you decided to keep the Uke! Your playing and singing has probably giving your family and friends 200 pounds worth of happiness! I really enjoyed

hearing you sing and play! Thanks!

  • @banjogaz Hi Garry. Coincidentally the annual NZ Ukulele Festival is on tomorrow, and we are playing at the adults part in the evening (so as to avoid the elections on TV). We might have been there the same day as you- we played there 2009. And the other reason I was excited to get the Martin SO was that I have a 1940s SO, and it is beautiful to play; I was expecting something the same I guess, which might have been unrealistic of me. All part of lifes rich patisserie. All the best over there

  • 僕も楽器がほしくなったよ。

  • I'm so glad that the review was helpful and that you are clearly enjoying your new Martin. Best wishes and thanks for getting in touch.

  • Hi, I'm from Japan. I had final decision to buy Martin S-0 Uke, because I was stimulated with your video. After buying this uke, I always feel wonderful. Martin S-0 Uke is just a cheap uke , but is wonderful uke for me that simply enjoy to play, and is constructed with true mind. It sounds Martin uke sound. Of course !!! This is just a Martin Ukulele !!! I know some vintage Martin, but I love this S-0 Uke also. I guess some people in this world feel like me !!!
