If you flip over Dickey's record, Big Brother, you get this killer tune. Why was this stuck on a B side? This could've been a big hit! Price guides show this as being on Hall-Way records, but as you can see here, it is just Hall records (and every copy I've come across has been on Hall, not Hall-Way, as well). Hope you enjoy the tune! You can hear songs like this one every night live on www.topshelfoldies.org!

  • I actually love Big Brother but it would've been a better "B" side. Does anyone know if this is available in stereo on an LP or CD? I've heard "Big Brother" in stereo before but never this....

  • @ronreagan12 This side doesn't exist in stereo. It was not on the LP (Big Brother, however, was). Whether or not a master tape still exists, I have no idea.

  • great upbeat rare recording by Dickey Lee

wonder why it was never a big hit....it sure deserved it...thanks a lot!!!!! if you happen to have Dreamy Nights please post it thanks!!!! keep the doo wops alive

  • It was never a hit because the stupid record company stuck it on the B side of a horrible record!!! Stupid them!! I do not have Dreamy Nights, unfortunately...

  • wold you have A KINGDOM I CALL HOME. thanks

  • @TopshelfTom

As awful as it might be, I've actually never heard it! Could you do me the pleasure of posting it? :D

  • I have a copy of this courtesy of my father (he's almost 73). It's arguably the greatest flipside of all time, right up there with The Velvet Underground & Nico's 'Femme Fatale'. In fact, this number would have fit in quite well on The Velvets' first album. The lead guitar break sounds a helluva lot like Sterling Morrison, and I can imagine Lou Reed singing those lyrics. It's not a far cry from 'There She Goes Again'. Great track.

  • Oh, no : ( That's what happened to me exactly. Ha ha ha, aw, man.

  • First time I've heard this, it's a great tune. It definitely would have been a big hit if it were given a chance. Thanks for sharing it.

  • Listening to thnis tune for the first time and this is a year before the British invasion that would change popular music forever.

  • Here's a challenge and I hope this can be done before I die of old freakin' age. Somebody....Post a good copy of Dickey Lee "I Go Lonely".

  • great song 1963 was the shit!
