This is an exhaust vent for a steam tunnel at the University of Texas at Dallas. I believe a steam pipe underneath has sprung a leak. These pipes carry high pressure steam, so I hypothesize that this must be the reason to explain why there is steam and boiling water coming up a vent.

  •  steam lines have saftey valves that release when the line pressure hits a certain limit. keeps everthing nice and safe. Don't worry unless they're not working. lol
