The Pearson Family - Submitted by a family friend

Kathy Pearson had her prayers answered as she watched her twin children Josh and Vanessa graduate from high school.

This was her dearest desire ever since her open heart surgery 6 months before their graduation. Soon after their open house she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Within a year of this Kathy was found to have inoperable brain cancer. This past year her family has lived a private tragedy. They have tenderly and respectfully cared for their mom at home; honoring her wishes to not share the terminal nature of her cancer with anyone outside the family.

During the last week of Kathy's life the family found out that the home they had been renting was in foreclosure. Within 2 weeks of her death the family needed to pack up their memories and belongings and find another place to live. They were planning a funeral, mourning, packing and trying to find a new home all within days of the most important person in their lives death. The Pearson family handled this situation with incredible FAITH, GRACE, and respect to their mom's wishes. What makes the above tragedy a triumph is simply the love Jesus showed us on the cross.

The Pearson family lives a very humble, modest life. Kathy home-schooled the children and made sure their needs always came first. She knew that loving her God, her family and ALL others was more important than anything that could be purchased. This family never went on any vacation that wasn't a destination that supported the kids participating in a church activity. This family worked unselfishly this past year to take care of their mom and keep meager jobs to pay the bills. Dad was laid off and now most of the Pearson's work at Valley Food Co-Op to support themselves. They have found a home to rent, one that they feel like their mom would have loved.

They have pledged to stay together for 1 year after their mom's death and then the kids may choose their own destinies.

It would be like having the breath of God blow life back into their spirits to have this trip to experience together before they all try to figure out what their lives will look like as adults without their mom. They have put God and his teaching first through all this and I just wish for them to have a moment that would take their breath away. This trip would provide them with happy, bonding lasting memories of a vacation they would never have been able to take had they not lived through this tragedy. Thus, proving again that God does use ALL THINGS for good who love him.
