With it becoming nearly impossible now to use music in videos or blogs without getting into serious legal trouble, there are a few sites where artists offer music with permission granted for people to remix and reuse their music.

The biggest such site in Japan is Wacca.fm, which has everything from bedroom experimental electronic music to touring indies bands. A quick search of the site and you can find hundreds of high quality original tracks made by Japanese bands that you can download and listen to.

I loved the explanation of the name and the site - and I have found it very interactive. The music artists would send me nice messages thanking me when I registered as fans for their stuff, and I've had some good email conversations with them - it is a lot like the live indies scene in Japan where everyone is just very friendly and approachable.
