The words of Gary Cox (member of ARTFUL DODGER) best explain how BRAT's "How Long Will It Take" relates to ARTFUL DODGER:
"This 45 record is where it all began for Artful Dodger. We printed this from the original demo in 1974 and had hoped to distribute it ourselves. As you know at that time the name of the band was "Brat". On my trip to New York with one of these 45's I landed our CBS contract."
A different version of this song appears on the debut album from ARTFUL DODGER and is entitled "Long Time Away". Because another band had already been gaining recognition using the name BRAT, the band came up with the name ARTFUL DODGER - who was a pick-pocket/thief character from the Charles Dicken's novel "Oliver Twist". • never heard of these guys before today. love this tune. singer sounds like rod stewart but better.

  • Thanks for the comment, and glad you like the song! As I understand, the band had a soft spot for Rod Stewart and The Faces - in fact, in the early days, they would cover a Faces tune or two during the live shows. Hopefully I'll get some time to post one of those in the future.

  • I seem to remember that Artful Dodger was one of the bands that supported Kiss at a string of concerts in the mid-seventies. Is that correct?
