Kenya is urging Tanzania to relax some of its hardline positions that could prove a stumbling block to the integration of the East African Community. The message was relayed to the Tanzanian Prime Minister Mizengo Pinda when he separately met both President Kibaki and Prime Minister Raila Odinga in Nairobi yesterday. With just two months to the signing of the East African Common Market protocol, Tanzania remains opposed to issues like a common identity card and land ownership.

@MrBaraka1979 There you go. But why the pressure? UK participated in formulating the EU but it isnt a wholesome participant in it. It still uses her own currency and so are the Scandinavian countries but there is cooperation. The nonstop pressure towards us only tells us that there are other forces who are trying to close in on us.Our land and resources. None of neighbours has a solution for our problems. Only problems to come. Leave us alone.

@blackstheblessed Peace and stability. We are not prepared to throw away to neighbours who have proved to us how much tribalism and arrogance can cause strife. We have nothing to copy from them and arent used to fighting amongst each other. We have to be ready as we know they dont share the history and commitent we have towards peace and stability. If they cant live peacefully amongst themselves how can they live with us?
