http://eldercare911answers.com
Many elders experience some degree of Normal Memory Loss. Even though it does not significantly interfere with their safety, health, or quality of life, its frustrating and frightening.
These tips will help your parent keep better track of items and appointments:
1.Make the most of calendars & to do lists. Paste post-it notes where theyll be most visible.
2.Get Organized! Put The same items in the same place every time and Keep them there!
3.Tape emergency telephone numbers on tables and walls next to each telephone.
4.Learn something by heart. Research shows simple mental exercises like memorizing a few lines of poetry may help improve memory.
5.Look for landmarks to help you remember where you parked you car
6.People differ in the times they are most mentally alert.
What helpful information. I put a basket at the front door for keys and glasses at my mom's house and posted all of her important phone #'s by her phone in the kitchen and in her bedroom. I can clearly see the difference that she is not as frustrated as she had been in the past when it comes to making a call or needing to run out for an errand. She can do both much more quickly now that she has a common place for everything!
