Hi Melanie - I just looked up Hwangsa and found a site that says the dust comes from the desert areas of China and Mongolia - is that true? And do you know if it is getting worse over time (due to desertification)?

Yes and yes... I read an article in Seoul Scene and they were saying that this year's Yellow dust is supposed to be pretty bad. There are also national warnings - too much dust in the air and everyone's supposed to stay indoors - I never really thought much about it before... I'd walk around in it all of the time - it just looks like a haze, but the article I read said that the particles in the dust are growing more and more toxic. Either way - it can't be a good thing.
