That jazz band teacher is a real moron for disallowing flutes because he thinks its not jazz worthy. You should report him to the principal and he should lose his job for showing clearly he is incapable of doing it. Wow what a complete idiot. You should show him this video.

wow this is wonderful! who says flutes arent jazz worthy?
(well my band teacher says so, i can't join jazz band because he doesnt consider flutes to be jazzy.. wow)

Simply great!...really enjoyed Bill McBirnie's super flute playing!. I noticed he put something onto his flute and can't figure what it is, but LOVED the sound he made with it.
Bill, if your reading this please tell me what's on the flute to make it sound so fabulous..again, your playing is superb!.

...The sound is actually much better live!...
Anyway, it is a high-quality clip-on condenser mic; namely, a Countryman Isomax II (with a hypercardiod pick-up pattern). I have been using it for probably 15 years. It never feeds back! Soundmen love it! And I learned a few years ago that this is what Ian Anderson has been using for decades...So I am obviously in good company in having made that choice!...
