@Guitarwizard I don't know about any BS licks or anything much about blues, actually (I'm trying to learn), but I know what you mean by 'statements that are layered and have meaning'. I agree with you. Although he is not a 'blues' guitarist, you may want to check out Johnny Marr's work with The Smiths, (Girl Afraid, Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others, and William It Was Really Nothing are quite expressive, at least in my opinion). @chocolatedonut31 Just because it's more than just a guitarist playing 12 bar rhythm and singing doesn't mean it's not the blues. I understand being a blues purist, but you have to be realistic and understand that things (especially the blues) change, evolve, and will continue to change. Imagine what music would be like if people like Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck and all those British blues guitarist hadn't heard delta blues and turned it into rock n' roll...
