Yes it is a few days after the 4th, but at least its not a few months after.
Kai helps me make a American dinner to celebrate the fourth of July. Then on the 5th there was a international food festival at Jica (http://www.jica.go.jp/obihiro/index.html). There was food, dance and music that came together to form a great atmosphere for everyone. You should go next year. Also my friend Andy was kind enough to come with us, he's another English teacher at a different school than mine here in town.

Looks like it was pretty fun. Although I would've stayed away from the dancing cow but that's just me.
