I hate the way this programme has tried to demoralise the "poverty and squalor" stance - the interviewer is horrible .... they have mis-represented poor Jerry who was loyal to the Beales .... I also hate the musical which is crap ... Christine you should be ashamed of yourself ... you're not even close ..... Jerry wants to reach out and touch but he isn't talking about your pathetic misinformed character assasination ....

i dont think it has anything to do with race they were endearing charactors they were the first of their kind on a wide scale in the 70 s. such media attention kind of romanticised it. im fascinated by this documentary i think it offers a broader understanding to people to offer greater empathy to people in such situations.x

What, crack heads dont have style? I beg to differThe can accessorize, improvise and articulate with the best of them.
-
Arrr but they had style. That's the differance.

When we see crazy white people living in filth, you call it eccentric and make a musical about it. Society sees black people living like this and they are called crack heads. The police are called and the only music you hear is the theme song to COPS

Oh my God it's little Jerry!

Jackie could have donated a lot more to make that house more liveable. Big Edie was her father's sister. Unfortunately, the Bouviers' fortune disappeared and Jackie and her mother were able to marry more money. Paris Hilton doesn't have the class.

Jerry, my heart goes out to you. Your friendship with Big Edith was obviously sincere, and I am sorry people have tried to deny you your rightful place in the Grey Gardens legacy.
@WLKCONSULTING Huh? Half the people on COPS were redneck white trash. These women were extremely well spoken, educated, complex and interesting. The film is about missed opportunities and loss, not just "eccentric white people living in filth". The enormous difference between these women and the people on a show like COPS is that these women can hold a viewers interest for two hours whereas the characters on COPS can barely speak in full sentences (black, white or otherwise)

big edith and little edie must be rolling in their graves with glee with the broadway show and now the movie... i absolutely adore little edie, the documentary was insighful yet non judgemental.
